Although we had attended courses on birthing and prepared for all eventualities, we found Tally one morning, already delivered, sat in the field next to her mum Leonie. We wish all our deliveries had been that simple!

When we decided to breed Alpacas, we invested in Fowberry Leonie who came with an excellent ‘true white’ pedigree that included the finest Australian genetics. Tally has not disappointed. Her first 3 fleeces have all been superfine, and she has been commended for her brightness and crimp when we have shown her. tally was shown as an intermediate at both the Yorkshire and North West Alpaca group Shows where she respectively came away with a Reserve Champion  ribbon and a first place. In 2015 Tally gave birth for the first time to Rosie who was sired by Beck Brow Explorer bringing together some of the finest genetics in the north of England. Rosie now lives in France with Alpagas de la Ria. Her second Cria, Jessie, a beautiful white girl was born last year sired by our stud male Beck Brow Crafter. Jessie is now owned by Old Felton Alpacas.

Tally is one of our most placid Alpacas who took a long time to interact with the others. Personality characteristics in Alpacas can be heritable traits and this quietness and calmness is also evident in her mother and siblings. She is however extremely easy to manage and handle and always hangs back at feeding time waiting to be fed by hand.
