Alpaca Rugs (2)
In collaboration with Pocket House Studio on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, we are delighted to offer a number of uniquely designed Alpaca Rugs woven from our own fleece. The fleeces are hand spun then skeined, then soaked in a number of freshwater baths using organic soaps before being dried naturally in the open air. Weaving takes place on one of four floor looms to produce these unique rugs. -
Knitwear (34)
We are selling a new line of luxurious Alpaca knitwear manufactured from the natural yarns that have been spun from our own fleeces. We have combined 20% silk with our Alpaca yarn to create cable knit hats, scarves, snoods and gloves in four natural colours, fawn, brown, cream and grey (from yarn combining white and black fleeces). We are also selling a slightly lighter weight off-white cable hat, again combining 20% silk and 80% Alpaca. In addition to our own range of knitwear we also sell Alpaca Socks (both everyday and walking socks) in a range of colours. -
Yarn (18)
Our Alpacas are sheared each year usually in May. We then separate out the fleece into what we call firsts (the longer finer fibre around the body) used to make yarn, and seconds (the shorter fibre around the neck/thighs) that we use to make duvets and pillows and that can also be used for felting. We do not dye our yarn and we process each fleece individually at a Micro Mill to produce natural, fine balls of wool that can be associated with individual animals. Alpaca yarn is renowned for its soft, lustrous, luxurious characteristics. -
Bedding (6)
In association with Penrose Products we sell a luxurious range of Alpaca bedding. Each year we send our ‘seconds’ off to be manufactured into Alpaca duvets, toppers and pillows made from natural or organic cotton. Alpaca fibre has a hollow core that allows water molecules to move freely providing a natural temperature control system while we are asleep. Alpaca duvets retain heat in winter but are also cool in the summer. The absence of lanolin means that bedding products are hypo-allergenic and unlike normal duvets, the cool dry characteristics of Alpaca fibre deter dust mites.
